sweet and funny things

i just found this in our pictures.  i didn't want to lose it or forget that he had written it.
a friend sent us a message asking how we were doing not long after minnie was born.
christian's reply melted my heart.  wonderful husband and father is an understatement.  we are both still tired and disheveled, but so grateful to have minnie in our lives.  she is such a little sweetie.

speaking of our little sweetie.  yesterday when she woke up from her nap, i heard her making little squeaks.  i went in to the room and found her licking and trying to suck on the side bars of the cradle.  i started laughing and stuck my face down in the cradle.  she looked over at me and flashed one of her cute little smiles, the kind that says "oh good.  i know you know what i want."  what a funny kid.

overcoming obstacles

“that which we persist in doing becomes easier to do,
not that the nature of the thing has changed
but that our power to do has increased.”
- ralph waldo emerson

minnie used to really dislike tummy time.  it was hard to hold up her little head.  i didn't like it either because i would see and hear how frustrated it made her.  the bumbo was also a bit of a challenge.  but, we  knew they were both good for her.  we kept at it, and as you can see our little squeaker has really excelled.  she started rolling over at 2 1/2 months.  a real overachiever, just like her daddy.  three cheers for minnie!

so exciting

near the end of the video you will experience britta's excitement.
 it's pretty awesome.
i wish everyone was this excited to have me around.

rocky mountain high

christian had a conference in good ole' colorado, which we were so excited about because that meant we got to see family!  we traveled on april 11th - which is the birthday of my favorite person.  you guessed it...christian!  minnie decided that for daddy's birthday, she was going to give him an uneventful drive to littleton.  she was SO good the whole way.  once we got there....

britta couldn't get enough of minnie.  i'll upload a video later,
just in case you can't tell by the look on her face.

funfetti cake, compliments of sandy and katie.

on our way home we stopped in at grandpa and grandma sabey's.
grandma couldn't get enough of minnie.  she LOVES babies.

look at those attractive sabey's!

just watching conference

this is how minnie listens to general conference.
she was very well behaved for her first go at it.
we'll work on staying awake when she gets older.
i loved all the messages the apostles and prophets taught.
this talk about parenting really touched my heart.
so grateful for the gospel, which teaches us truth that
blesses the lives of me and my family.

our little cocoon...

is turning in to a butterfly

it is amazing how fast 9 weeks flies by.
minnie just keeps getting cuter and cuter every day.
we went to the dr. for her 2 month check-up and he said,
"she couldn't be more perfect a baby."
i already knew that....but it was good to have an unbiased opinion.
stats:
11 lbs. 6 oz - 69th percentile
22.5 inches - 52nd percentile

she got shots today too.

she was a brave little thing.
i think i was more traumatized by it than minnie was.

our little orange julius machine

we decided our diapers didn't pass
the quality control test.

when i looked at this....

i thought "ewwww, gross."

then, i started changing our little orange julius machine's
diaper. it turned in to this....

the white onesie underneath was even worse.
when i was trying to clean her up, she decided her diaper
that was already filled beyond capacity could use a little more.
i was grateful christian was home to help take care of the little
mess minnie created for us.

turns out, minnie was probably more grateful.
the next day she had another blow out, it was just as
damaging as the mess pictured above. this time her daddy
wasn't home. i tried to be careful, but i still got some on her face.
i can only imagine her thoughts....
"ewwwww, gross mom."
