"one time, i ate a whole ham..."

i have a vivid childhood memory of sitting in the living room of my grandpa and grandma meacham's house with my brother. lance was sitting on grandpa's lap in the mustard colored velvet plush chair in the southeast corner. i was sitting on the couch. we were just hanging out, enjoying time with grandpa reid. grandpa had a bit of a belly. i recall lance looking up at him and innocently asking, "grandpa, why is your belly so big." without skipping a beat and with a smile on his face, grandpa said, "well lance, one time, i ate a whole ham." that was all the answer lance needed to carry on with his day. as i have grown older, the memory of a loving grandfather who wasn't offended by the observation by his grandson that his belly was a bit on the round side, has been so endearing to me. i miss my grandpa reid, and wish he could see me and my round belly. these days, i'm looking like i ate a whole ham too!

baby shower in a box

i have many, many blessings in my life. one is a life filled with good friends who have been such an important source of love and support. they are all over the US of A. i am so blessed!

most recently, my friend hailey cahoon, put together a shower in a box for me and christian. it included everything - decorations, games, refreshments, prizes and gifts from friends from oregon to louisiana. christian and i had a blast at our shower and we were so grateful for the generosity and love from so many friends.

28 weeks

we are getting the nursery/office/bike room all put together in anticipation of minnie's arrival. as part of this venture, we put the crib together. (when i say we, i mean christian put the crib together while i stood in the same room trying to be helpful, but failing miserably.) a big thanks to nana and papa (my mom and dad) for purchasing her lovely crib!

sandy and linda fisher made this darling little number for us (and minnie). isn't it cute?!?! thanks sandy and linda!

how to say i love you?

november 6th, 2011 was our third "i love you" anniversary. the "i love you" anniversary tradition began when we proclaimed our love to one another by writing it on a cake in front of some good friends. it was a fun and funny night filled with laughter, cake, roses, balloons, a gummy bear tossing contest and a lot of love. this year, was a little more low key. i wanted to do something for the one i love to let him know how much i love him. turns out, the best way to tell a man you love him is...bacon roses! he was elated. i was too! the best part, as they have been sitting on the table for the last few days, the aroma of bacon has filled the room. bacon roses...the gift that keeps on giving!

harry potter halloween

halloween 2010 consisted of:

tasty pumpkin soup,

dressing up like a pregnant lady (27 weeks),

and a delightful harry potter party!

check out this spread...

christian won the golden egg broom race.

he also won the tri-wizard cup because he racked up the most points during all the games

i couldn't have been prouder!

p.s. we can't take credit for any of the creativity or innovation of the party. we were just attendees. wes and rebecca (ron and hermione) hosted it, and did a phenomenal job.

disclaimer: my husband is thoughtful, kind and loving

=

?

christian: it turns out that lately you've been snoring when you sleep.
erin: that is funny. i was just reading about how during this time period of pregnancy, most women snore more. while i was reading it, i was thinking, "oh, i bet I don't snore a lot."
christian: sometimes i wake up and hear you snore like this...(a demonstration of my snore proceeded. his demonstration included a long inhale through the nose and a puffing exhale through the mouth.)
erin: really?!?!
christian: and, i just think to myself, "am i sleeping with a whale?"

at that point his eyes grew about ten sizes, and so did mine. by the look on his face, i knew that he realized the mistake he had made. a whale!?!?! did he just call me a whale? not an animal a pregnant woman wants to be compared to! even if he is just comparing snoring noises. it WAS really funny though. he made the comment so innocently.

i continue to remind him, that he is lucky that
THIS whale is good natured.

it's a...

turns out, our little bundle of joy is a girl! she was fairly modest during the ultrasound, with her legs crossed and her hands in front of her face most of the time. after some coaxing she decided to cooperate and reveal that she is made of sugar and spice and everything nice! we couldn't be more excited!

just catching up on summer adventures! we spent a few days in chicago in july. i had a work event and christian came out a few days later. we had a lot of fun. we ate deep dish pizza and hot dogs. we strolled down the magnificent mile, went on a boat tour, to navy pier, and to peter pan. two of my favorite places in chicago - mr. beef and lou mitchell's. fantastic diners with amazing service!

green canyon is actually green this year

did i mention that i love spending time with christian? we took a little mtn. bike ride up green canyon last weekend. their was water running through the trail in at least 4 places. i thought we lived in a desert?!?! i've never seen water up green canyon...until now. it made for an adventure. christian would ride right through the water. i would generally hoist my bike on my shoulder and struggle through it on foot. however, on a couple of occasions i rode through the water, and boy, oh boy, it was exhilarating! i've loved riding bikes for a lot of years now. but, i just realized how much more fun it is to do something you love with the person you love. you can start gagging after that comment. i don't care. it's just the truth.

who says easter egg hunts are just for kids? not the sabey's. this was the most serious easter egg hunt i've ever been a part of. 4 teams, 4 quadrants, 1 winner. it was intense.
