beach bums

while we were in san diego for the wedding, we took minnie to lajolla shores for her first beach adventure.  we aren't great beach people.  we burn easily and we have aversions to crowds of people.  having said that, we still had fun.  minnie got to hang out with her cousins - chloe and lily.  she also got to sport her cute little swim suit from grandma and her cover-up from nana.  we dipped her little legs in the water.  the water wasn't her favorite thing.  maybe she will like it more when she gets older.  oh, and turns out lajolla shores was shut down a few days after we left.  a surfer and a lifeguard spotted a great white shark about 50 yards from the shore.  eek!  glad we spent most of our time under a canopy in the sand while we were there.

the beach wore her right out.

if you look close, you can see sand in between her cute little piggies.

look at that cute little face.  i LOVE this picture of our little minnie mae.  cute little chloe bug took this picture.  i think we have a budding photographer in the family!

san diego wedding

benji and patty just got married.
we were able to travel to san diego for their sealing
and the wedding festivities.
we're so happy for them and excited that patty, remington
and athena have joined the sabey family.

the kiddos and i hung out together during the sealing.
we were able to get levi's shirt ironed, chloe and lily in their wedding clothes,
feed minnie and still make it to the temple in time.
i drove the van with all five kids from the hotel to the temple with only one wrong turn.
luckily we had the good ole' GPS to help us find our way.
the kids were little angels.
i won't deny that i was bribing them with tootsie rolls the whole time.
BUT, they were still angels.

i've heard the san diego temple referred to as the "cinderella castle".
the cool thing is, the temple is much more amazing than any disney castle.
i'm so grateful for the blessing of eternal families that the temple brings.

the sabey siblings and patty

benji, pete and christian performed their own rendition
of the nitty gritty dirt band's "broken road"
at the wedding luncheon.
this song is a great explanation of benji and patty's
lives and relationship.  we are all so happy for them.
christian's uncle mark said something profound
to him before the sealing,
"when something so painful comes to a resolution,
it can be an emotional thing."
don't worry.  i'm crying while i'm writing this.

minnie wasn't so sure about this pose...

but, decided she better get used to it.
